Christal
A self-taught artist from The Philippines. Her work is shaped by growing up around the raw immediacy of graffiti and the act of observation—of people, spaces, and the sharp curves of Filipino home gates. These early influences show up in her approach—tension, spontaneity, presence & disappearance.Working with both painting and mixed media, Christal focuses on dismantling and reconstructing, translating them into visual responses that are both instinctive and deliberate. Her process leans into impulse—letting texture, layering, and contrast guide the work.Expanding her visual language through video and media transformation, she continues to explore how fragmented experiences and environments can still create something cohesive. Her work doesn’t aim to explain, but instead opens up a space where viewers can sit with discomfort, ambiguity, and whatever feelings arise.
