A self-taught artist from the Philippines. Christal's work is shaped by growing up around the raw immediacy of graffiti and a deep attentiveness to observation — of people, passing gestures, inhabited & abandoned spaces, and the sharp ornamental contours of Filipino home gates. These early influences show up in her approach—tension, spontaneity, presence & disappearance, textures within memories.
Working with both painting and mixed media, Christal’s practice revolves around acts of dismantling and reconstruction, translating them into visual responses that are both instinctive and deliberate. Her process embraces impulse and surrender, allowing texture, layering, contrast, and material tension to guide the work toward its own becoming.
Expanding her visual language through video and media transformation, Christal continues to investigate how fragmented experiences, shifting environments, and scattered emotional residues can still converge into cohesiveness. Rather than offering resolution or explanation, her work creates a space for suspension — one that invites viewers to remain with ambiguity, unease, tenderness, and the quiet tension of feeling without the need to define it.
